Privacy Policy

Introduction

Noisy Mind ("we", "us", or "our") is an iOS voice notes app developed by MeltinBit. Noisy Mind is designed to work entirely on your iPhone: there is no account to create, and your recordings and notes are never sent to our servers. This Privacy Policy explains the little data that does leave your device, why, and your rights.

In Short

  • No account: you never sign in, and we do not know who you are.
  • On-device transcription: your voice is transcribed by a speech recognition model running on your iPhone. Audio and text never leave your device.
  • Your notes are yours: they are stored on your device and, only if you choose so, in your private iCloud.
  • Anonymous usage statistics: we collect anonymous app usage events to improve Noisy Mind, never the content of your notes.

Data That Stays on Your Device

The following data is created, processed, and stored only on your iPhone. We have no access to it:

  • Voice recordings: audio files are saved on your device and transcribed locally.
  • Notes, transcriptions, groups, and tags: stored in the app's local database.
  • Titles and text cleanup: on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, titles and text cleanup are generated by Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent to us or to any AI service.
  • Face ID lock: if you enable it, authentication is handled entirely by iOS. We never receive biometric data.
  • Reminders: notifications are scheduled and delivered locally by iOS.
  • Trial start date: to apply the 30-day free trial, the app stores the date of its first launch in your device's Keychain. This information never leaves your device.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you keep "Sync with iCloud" enabled in the app settings, your notes and app preferences are synchronized through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit and iCloud Key-Value Storage. This lets you keep your notes when you reinstall the app or change iPhone. The data is stored by Apple in your iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy; MeltinBit has no access to it.

You can turn iCloud sync off at any time in the app settings. With sync off, your notes are stored only on your device.

Third-Party Services

Transcription Model Download (Hugging Face)

The first time you open Noisy Mind, the app downloads its speech recognition model (about 600 MB) once. The model files are hosted on Hugging Face (huggingface.co). As with any download, Hugging Face receives the technical information needed to deliver the files, such as your IP address and basic request headers. No audio, notes, or personal content are sent. Hugging Face's handling of this data is governed by its own privacy policy.

Anonymous Usage Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

To understand how the app is used and to improve it, Noisy Mind sends anonymous usage events to TelemetryDeck, an analytics service based in Germany that is designed for privacy and GDPR compliance. Events include, for example: app opened, note created, transcription completed or failed (with approximate audio duration and text length), transcription model download progress, paywall shown, purchase started or completed, and settings changes such as iCloud sync on or off.

Each event may include technical information such as app version, iOS version, device model, and language and region settings. Events are linked to an anonymized identifier that TelemetryDeck derives on your device and cannot be used to identify you. We never send the content of your recordings or notes, your name, or your email address.

Apple In-App Purchases (StoreKit)

The lifetime unlock is a one-time in-app purchase processed entirely by Apple. The app verifies the purchase on your device through StoreKit. We do not receive, store, or process payment details, Apple ID credentials, or any financial information. Data processing by Apple in connection with purchases is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Our Website

Hosting and Website Analytics

Our website, noisymind.app, is hosted on Cloudflare. To measure visits we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies and does not track you across websites. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver and protect the website, according to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

Support Form

If you contact us through the support page, the email address and message you submit are forwarded to our team through a private Telegram chat so that we can reply to you. They are not stored in a database on our website. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.

How We Use Data

We use the limited data described above exclusively to deliver the transcription model, understand how the app and the website are used, fix problems, and answer your support requests.

We do not use your data for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Data Retention and Deletion

  • Notes and recordings: you can delete them in the app at any time. Deleting the app removes all data stored on your device. If iCloud sync is enabled, notes stored in iCloud can be managed or deleted from your iPhone's iCloud settings.
  • Usage analytics: events are anonymous and retained by TelemetryDeck according to its retention policy.
  • Support messages: kept in our team chat until the request is resolved or until you ask us to delete them.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

  • Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data.
  • Right to restriction: You may request that we limit the processing of your data.
  • Right to data portability: You may request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: You may object to the processing of your data.

Because the app does not use accounts and analytics are anonymous, in most cases we hold no personal data that can be linked to you. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at our support page.

The legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest in delivering, maintaining, and improving Noisy Mind (model download and anonymous analytics), and your request when you contact us.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your personal information, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Children's Privacy

Noisy Mind is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
